Yes. I will talk about this day…but first thing first. The time change is kicking my arse. I naturally wake up around 6:30am but this morning when I got up, I wanted to pull my eyeballs out. Although I was not thrilled to be up, I was however; thrilled because I was heading down to Griffin Claw Brewery in Birmingham to be a part of the International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day. This day celebrates the women of craft brewing and also raises funds and awareness for the pinkbootssociety.org
I hit Starbucks first and grabbed a triple grande non-fat latte to wake up and a double smoked bacon, cheddar, egg on croissant sandwich. HOLY COW!! Best thing I ate all day…maybe all week! Get Sum! Im not gonna go deep on the entire day because the pictures speak for themselves, but let me tell you, I am a home brewer and they gave us the full meal deal! We were truly brewing from start to finish. What I love about craft beer is the purity of it. No junk. No fillers. No polysorbate 80. Just hops, yeast, water, malt.
From milling the barley and tasting the 3 different types of grains,
to cleaning the yeast,
to weighing and adding the hops,
to lautering (separating the wort from the grain) and pitching the yeast.
I missed the very end where we went into the tasting room and cracked a few open but in a few short weeks us ladies will be able to reap the rewards of our hard work.
A delicious red ale!
